Often referred to by patients and media as a "nose job", the goal of rhinoplasty is a nose that looks natural and blends harmoniously with the other facial features. Alterations may be made to increase or decrease the nasal bridge, reduce the size or width of the nose, narrow the nostrils, change the angle between the nose and upper lip, or reshape the tip.

In addition to achieving aesthetic goals, rhinoplasty can also be an effective treatment for impaired breathing caused by structural defects of the nose, such as a deviated septum.

The surgical techniques employed depend primarily on individualized goals that are established for each patient.
